Amy began her professional career onstage as a singer and dancer with Princess Cruises. She went on to perform around Chicago in various musical theatre productions including 42nd St., Smokey Joe's Cafe, The Who's Tommy, Merrily We Roll Along starring Jessie Mueller and Hairspray with Tim Kazurinsky.

Amy was a singer in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes for three seasons. During her time in NYC she also studied with many Broadway directors and choreographers including Hamilton's Andy Blankenbeuhler. She was chosen for a pre-Broadway reading of a Maltby and Shire musical called Take Flight, directed by Josh Rhodes, musical direction by Kevin Stites and helmed by the composers themselves.
